School Reconstruction Compels Students of Absenteeism
By Mansoor Pirzada
GHOTKI Government P. High School Daharki has been lying closed since last 15 months due to the reconstruction of the old building of 1919.
Building of that school was ruined and was ordered for the reconstruction by the concerned authorities. The contract was given to a contractor in the 78 hundred thousand with the deadline of completing within three months. School was evacuated in April 2009 for the reconstruction. The School building comprises of 20 rooms and had to be demolished completely and reconstructed but it was demolished partially and the partial reconstruction had been started in April 2009; which has not completed 6 rooms of the school within last 15 months. Reconstructed rooms have been ruined again after the heavy rainfall of last few days. Reports said that
when the rooms of schools were demolished its scrap which included T-iron, iron rods, iron guarders, doors, windows and recycled bricks were distributed among the teachers for their personal use, without any auction.
More than 2000 students of Govt. P. High School Daharki are directed to get education in Main Government Primary School Daharki in the evening shift, which has disturbed the students and halted the education process of the High School students.

Students are unable to attend the classes because they had to come from various villages of the Taluka situated many kilometers far, and to return back; afternoon shift ends at late evening, students from the villages are unable to catch the public transport which compels them of being absent from the school. Parents from the villages of the students have cried that law and order situation of the district is worsen, so that they are afraid of sending their children to the school in the city. Head Master of

Government P. High School Daharki, Manzoor Ahmed Pathan told that he has been in touch with the authorities to complete the reconstruction and demanded of high ups for the completing of reconstruction.
Several social societies have awakened to get the issue resolved. Citizens, Parents, Students, Political and non political leaders have started a series of protest in this regard. Chairman, Al-Hafiz Society, Abdul Qadeer Kanju said that education departments officials also did not pay attention to this issue.
