Mr. Edward O
Hunter Board Member of
EN POINTE Technologies had a meeting with MD PSEB during his
visit to
Pakistan. Following is a brief extract from his exclusive
interview at PSEB.
1. When and why did
you first visit Pakistan?
My first visit was an independent tour in 2004 on behalf of
Ovex technologies to monitor company operations in
Lahore and
Islamabad. Being a Board Member of EN POINTE Technologies I am in
Pakistan to explore the business development potential.
2. How have you found
Pakistani people during your visit?
I have been meeting people belonging to
different nationalities
since my childhood. I have met numerous Pakistani’s belonging to
different areas of interests and the one thing I found common in all of
them is that they are extremely warm and cordial. During my recent visit
Pakistani people have impressed me a lot with their English speaking
skills, integrity and quality of work.
3. Are you happy with
the business value you are deriving from Pakistan?
I am certainly very happy with the business values and I am trying to
expand them more. Pakistan adds value to our business in terms of
availability of large pool of cost competitive yet quality workforce in
addition to improved infrastructure and reduced ICT costs.
4. Do you think that
international mass media portrays a realistic image of Pakistan?
Media has always portrayed a negative picture about Pakistan. As
Pakistan shares border line with
Afghanistan; people
assume that Pakistan is also involved in terrible terrorist acts. But
this is not the real picture. Pakistan offers a peaceful and conducive
work environment for business. I must appreciate efforts of
President Musharraf; he has worked hard and is still trying his
best to create a positive environment in Pakistan.
5. What message do you
have for friends and colleagues back home?
On my way back I will share my views with my friends and colleagues that
Pakistan is not a dangerous country at all. Pakistani citizens are very
friendly and cooperative.
6. Would you have a
message for Pakistani IT companies?
Pakistani IT companies have potential in them. They should realize and
have confidence in them. It would take some time and effort to reach a
position in the international market but the companies are competent
enough to compete. I advise them not to be afraid of risks. They should
explore the opportunities in foreign markets enjoyed by other players of
the region.
