An Interview with Mian Zahid Hussain chairman Korangi Association of Trade & Industry |
|
Mian Zahid Hussain: As far as solution to economic crisis of Pakistan, right now, is concerned. I think is not difficult because there is no rocket science involved in to this thing. You see what are the problems? Major one are two, that you face when go to set up a factory, whether it is a leather one or Garments. First is imported products and the other one is smuggling. Now if we reduce the cost of doing business which only possible when Govt. Reduce charges of electricity, Gas etc, and alter the current tax structure in a way that industrialists get relieved then our economic situation can be better very soon. Jeevey Pakistan: Why foreign investors are hesitating to come in Pakistan? Mian Zahid Hussain: Foreign investors have been given more benefits by the government compared to local ones. But even then they are not coming to Pakistan because we don't have good reputation regarding law and order situation. I think there is no other reason in that regard. Here i would emphasize again that we have countable industrial areas in Pakistan and Govt. should establish a special security force for industrial area which should be properly trained in this regard. I think if we can do this it will give confidence to foreign investors to come into this country.
Mian Zahid Hussain: It is very simple if we improve our Exports the balance will go into the favor of Pakistan and vis versa if we decrease our imports, both the way the balance of Import & Export will go in favor of Pakistan. Now the question is can we leave Tea, Chalia, edible oil based products? This creates heavy bills to Pakistan and that's not all we have to import the raw products of petroleum to run our normal life. So if we want to improve the balance of trade through imports then we shall have to take some serious steps in this regard. As far as export is concerned, again, i would say that we shall have to reduce the cost of doing business so that our products could be compatible in the world market. Jeevey Pakistan: In spite of having differences of opinions in business community do you feel that it can help Pakistan in current economic situation? Mian Zahid Hussain:Firt of all i would say that yes we have difference of opinions but i don't mind it because difference in opinion is also a positive thing as it give you new ideas. JP: Do you have any intention to come into Politics? MZH: No ,i dont have any intention to come into politics,as i am a businessman and industry is my field and i am very happy in my role. JP:What do you suggest to others? MZH:I will neither emphasise nor stop anyone, because i feel there is no harm in politics and this is also very good service to a society,so if any one feel himself fit into this he should go for it. JP:What is your secret of success? MZH:I think my parents prays, support of friends are the main factors and then the company i used to have ,because anyone known is by his accompany,so over all i am thankful to the God that He blessed me all the time. JP:What about your education?
MZH:My primary education is from punjab and
then onwards from karachi.I am bechlor of commerce and have done a cours
on leadership from Banglore. MZH:Read newspapers and watch news channels. JP:What do you want your children to be? MZH:Nice persons of the society, because if they are nice humanbeings they can succeed in any aspect of life, wether it is business, job or what so ever.
MZH:They should explore their and county's potential and they should not be disappointed, because i feel Pakistan have everything and with positive approach only,a day will come, when Pakistan will be one of the developed countries of the world. |
