KPK unveils balance budget of Rs249.15bn
The coalition government of ANP-PPP of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saturday presented a balance budget of Rs.249.15 billion for the financial year 2011-12.The Provincial Minister for Finance, Engineer Mohammad Hamayun Khan presented the budget in a specially convened session of the provincial assembly.Speaker, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Kiramatullah Khan presided over the proceedings of the house.

In last year budget estimates amount sanctioned for State Trading, Food, Grain and Sugar were used to be shown as part of the total outlay of the budget, which was presenting unrealistic picture of the budget.

This year a huge amount of Rs.87.706 billion has been reflected separately. The mentioned amount is shown for seeking credit from commercial banks and other financial institutions, which is neither part of the income for expenditures of the province.

The salient features of the budget for finance next financial year included a receipt of Rs.149.988 billion from federal government in head of federal taxes while another amount of Rs.18.202 billion would be provided in head of war against terrorism.

The provincial government will also receive a receipt of Rs.13.806 billion in head of royalty on oil and gas through straight transfers, Rs.6 billion as net profit on hydropower generation, Rs.25 billion outstanding arrears in head of net profit on electricity.

The province will generate an amount of Rs.7.349 billion from its revenue resources, Rs.10.3 billion on general sales tax on services.

The hydropower stations established with the own resources of the province will generate Rs.2.115 billion, Rs,16.112 billion from foreign project assistance and another amount of Rs.727.4 million through different miscellaneous resources.

The salient features of the expenditure of Rs.249.15 billion are including a current expenditure of Rs.149 billion.

The details of the expenditures are including Rs.13.12 billion (Health), Rs.18.81 billion (Police), Rs.2.34 billion (Irrigation), Rs.1.23 billion (Technical Education), Rs.2.32 billion (Works & Services), Rs.16 billion (Pension & Insurance), Rs.50.82 billion ( Salaries & other expenses of district governments), Rs.10.60 billion for payment of mark-up on loans and amount of Rs.2.50 billion for food subsidy.

کراچی (نمائندہ خصوصی، زبیر میمن) سندپاکستان کیمیکلز اینڈ ڈائز مرچنٹس ایسوسی ایشن سمیت دیگرٹریڈآرگنائزیشنز نے نیشنل ٹیرف کمیشن کی جانب سے ہائیڈروجن پر آکسائیڈ کی درآمد پر عائد کی گئی عارضی اینٹی ڈمپنگ ڈیوٹی کے خلاف درخواست دائر کی تھی۔درخواست کی پیروی کرنے والے وکیل قاضی عبدالحمیدصدیقی نے صحافیوں کو بتایاکہ سندھ ہائی کورٹ نے مذکورہ درخواست پر پانچ ماہ کی سماعت کے بعد اپنا فیصلہ سناتے ہوئے ہائیڈروجن پر آکسائیڈ کی درآمد پر عائد عارضی اینٹی ڈمپنگ ڈیوٹی کالعدم قراردی ہے اور اپنے تفصیلی فیصلے میں کہا ہے کہ نیشنل ٹیرف کمیشن کی جانب سے 20ستمبر2010 کو ہائیڈروجن پر آکسائیڈ کی درآمد پر عائد کی گئی عارضی اینٹی ڈمپنگ ڈیوٹی کی مد میں درآمد کنندگان سے وصول کی گئی رقم بھی واپس کی جائے۔ ایڈوکیٹ قاضی عبدالحمیدصدیقی نے مزیدبتایاکہ سیکشن45 اینٹی ڈمپنگ کے آرڈیننس 2000کے تحت 4ماہ سے زائد مدت تک عارضی اینٹی ڈمپنگ ڈیوٹی عائد نہیں کی جاسکتی، لہٰذا27 جنوری2011 کویہ مدت بھی ختم ہو گئی تھی۔دریں اثناء پاکستان کیمیکلز اینڈ ڈائز مرچنٹس ایسوسی ایشن کے چیئرمین محمد ہارون اگر نے سندھ ہائی کورٹ کے منصفانہ فیصلے پر بھرپور اعتماد کااظہارکرتے ہوئے کہا کہ اس فیصلے کے نتیجے میں درآمدی سرگرمیوں پر یقینی طور پر مثبت نتائج برآمد ہوں گے۔انہوں نے کہاکہ ہائیڈروجن پر آکسائیڈ کی درآمد پر عائد عارضی اینٹی ڈمپنگ ڈیوٹی کالعدم قراردینے سے درآمدی لاگت میں بھی کمی واقع ہو گئی جبکہ مقامی مارکیٹوں میں ہائیڈروجن پرآکسائیڈکی قیمتوں میں بھی کمی واقع ہو گی جس سے صنعتوں کو سستا خام مال دستیاب ہو سکے گا۔
بیرون ملک مقیم پاکستانیوں کی جانب سے وطن بھیجی جانے والی ترسیلات زر مسلسل دوسرے ماہ کے دوران ایک ارب ڈالر سے زائد رہیں
کراچی (نمائندہ خصوصی، زبیر میمن) بیرون ملک مقیم پاکستانیوں نے اپریل 2011 کے دوران 1,030.42 ملین ڈالر کی رقم ترسیلات زر کی شکل میں وطن بھیجی جبکہ انہوں نے مارچ 2011 کے دوران 1,052.90 ملین ڈالر کی ترسیلات زر وطن بھیجی تھیں۔ اس سے پتہ چلتا ہے کہ بیرون ملک مقیم پاکستانی ورکرز کی جانب سے وطن بھیجی جانے والی ترسیلات زر میں اضافے کا رجحان برقرار ہے اور رواں مالی سال (2010-11) کے ابتدائی 10 ماہ (جولائی۔ اپریل) کے دوران ورکرز ریمی ٹینسز کی مد میں 9,046.60 ملین ڈالر کا زرمبادلہ وطن آیا، جو گذشتہ مالی سال کے اسی عرصے کی ترسیلات زر (7,306.60 ملین ڈالر) کے مقابلے میں 1,740 ملین ڈالر یا 23.81 فیصد زیادہ ہے۔ ترسیلات زر پہلے ہی 9 بلین ڈالر کی سطح عبور کرگئی ہیں، جسے مالی سال 11 (FY11) کے سالانہ منصوبے میں پورے مالی سال کے لئے ترسیلات زر کا ہدف مقرر کیا گیا تھا۔

 

Kardar unveils first round of FICF
Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Shahid H. Kardar Monday launched pound 10 million Financial Innovation Challenge Fund (FICF) and unveiled the first round of FICF on Government to Person Payments (G2P).
Banks, public sector institutions, Microfinance institutions, government agencies, pension funds, and academic institutions are invited to apply to promote G2P payment through bank accounts at branchless banking outlets and also provide other financial services to the G2P payments beneficiaries, he added.

 

2000 MW to be added in national grid: PEPCO
Director General PEPCO Engineer Muhammad Khalid said on Friday that 2000 MW electricity would be added to national grid within two months that will help overcome load shedding in extremely hot weather. Talking to a private news channel, he hoped that loadshedding would be less this year as compared to past as power generation at Thermal and Hydel has been improved. To a question, he said on that electricity prices are not being increased and the tariff increase that was earlier scheduled to be applied on April 1 has also been suspended. He said the duration of loadshedding in major cities is between five to eight hours while in rural areas the duration is 10 to 12 hours. All out efforts were being made to minimize power loadshedding and the situation will improve soon, he added. He said water level in the dam starts rising by May end and hopefully then the power generation at the dam will improve. The water inflow of the dam is satisfactory and its water level is also high as compared to the dead level and to the previous year as well, he said. Khalid said efforts are underway to keep the shortfall at its minimum and top most priority is to provide power supply to the industry and agriculture sector.
DG PEPCO said no time-frame could be given for elimination of loadshedding. He said that the energy conservation plan is bearing fruit and all IPPs are producing electricity at full capacity. He also said that three power plants will be set up in Sindh in the next three years. The electricity shortfall has dropped 3000MW on Friday and the situation is now under control, he added. The DG, said “We are hopeful that the shortfall will not exceed to 4000MW in next days even if the demand remains high.”

SBP revises criteria for Islamic banks State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has revised the criteria for setting up of branches by Islamic banks. According to a circular of the Central Bank issued here on Monday, (BPRD No. 08, 2011), it said that the branch licensing policy (BLPs) has been revised with immediate effect. “In order to provide incentive to commercial banks for enhancing outreach of Islamic banking services, it has been decided to enhance the scope of Rural/Underserved Areas (RUAs) definition.” “Henceforth, any district having less than 10 Islamic Banking Branches (IBBs) will be termed as underserved with respect to Islamic banking facilities. Consequently, first 10 IBBs in such districts of Pakistan will fall under the BLPs definition of RUAs. It further narrated the four scenarios for understanding the aforesaid criteria for RUAs. SBP said that in each calendar year, only one IBB of a particular bank will be eligible to be treated as RUA in any particular district. “This means, if some bank desires to open more than one IBBs in any particular district, then its first IBB will be treated as RUA branch and any subsequent number of branch(es) would be considered as normal branch(es).” The SBP further said that these instructions will be effective immediately and respective banks are allowed to approach SBP within one month of the issuance of this circular for change/replacement of RUA locations (if desires so) with respect to new criteria. “All other instructions on the subject shall remain unchanged,” it added. CTA for imposing ban on new sugar mills in South Punjab Vice Chairman Cotton Ginners Association (CTA) Shehzad Khan Saturday called for imposing ban on new sugar mills in this region. In a statement here Saturday, he stressed to abide by rules of ‘cotton zone’ to cope with cotton crisis. “Currently the cotton produce has reduced from 14 million bales to 11.4 million bales in South Punjab”, he said and added that the same in neighbouring country India the cotton produce has increased from 10 million to 30 million cotton bales. He said Muzaffargarh, D G Khan and R Y Khan districts were known best for cotton produce but after permitting to install sugar mills in these districts, the cotton produce has decreased remarkably”, he said.   The economic coordination committee of the cabinet has accorded approval for the sale of two hundred thousand tons wheat stock lying with Pakistan agricultural storage and services corporation . The ECC met in Islamabad with the federal minister for finance and economic affairs Dr.Abdul Hafeez Shaikh in the chair. The ECC also constituted committees for further deliberation on the summaries moved by the ministry of food and agriculture, ministry of industry and production, on the cost of Wayen Poly Purphelane bags, and subsidy on sale price of imported urea.   Dr.Hafeez vows to bring rich and tax evaders in tax net Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh expressed the resolve of the government for taking strict action against those who are evading the taxes and bringing them in the tax net besides controlling the government expenditures for stabilization of national economy and securing public finance in the country. “We want to reduce inflation through these measures which is hurting the people in the country,” he remarked.   He said that government had increased the threshold of tax from Rs.100000 to Rs.300, 000 to benefit the low income people and only those people are liable to pay their due taxes whose annual income is more than Rs.300, 000 per annum. These measures, he said will enable government to contain its fiscal deficit to under 5.5 per cent well below the level of 8% some observers had speculated.

All That Glitters Is Not Gold! But then how pure is the Glittering Gold?  Even the most experienced jeweller cannot tell how much precious metal i.e. gold is there in a jewellery article, just by looking at it.

"It protects the public against fraud & traders against unfair competition and it will ensure that mixing of other metals in gold will be within the permitted limits in accordance to gold standards. It is also useful in case of resale as there would be no doubt on the gold contents. "

Price, color or weights do not reveal the amount of alloying metals that have added to a piece of jewellery whether it is coated/ plated by gold. Though our jewelers are familiar with the internationally recognized standards of quality assurance still an uncertainty prevails in the minds of jewelers and manufactures as the gold purchased from different sources cannot be certified. Due to non-existence of proper analytical facilities, some cases of the undercarating or the proper ratio of contents has claimed. The need to protect the creditability of the gold jewelry has called for introducing hallmarking.

Hallmarking is assurance/certifying the quality of gold used in jewellery through an internationally accredited independent body. It is an internationally recognized system of quality assurance of precious metals. It is envied by many countries in order to boost their trade of precious metals and to protect the consumers.

Assaying can be best described as an analytical test of determining gold content in the gold jewellery & the certification of the gold content against standards is “Hallmarking”. To be more precise; 9+ssaying refers to the fineness denotes the actual content of precious metal in the alloy used and Hallmarking refers to the physical marking a piece of jewellery according to specific laws to certify the purity of metal. Hallmarks are small markings stamped on gold, silver, palladium & platinum articles.

Buying Hallmarked Jewellery is beneficial in many ways. You are assured of the gold content, hence the value of your purchase. It protects the public against fraud & traders against unfair competition and it will ensure that mixing of other metals in gold will be within the permitted limits in accordance to gold standards. Pakistan will surely attract the Foreign Direct Investment once the Hallmarking is introduced in the jewellery manufacturing Industry and setting up of Assaying & Hallmarking Offices.

 Consequently, by introducing Hallmarking of jewelry in Pakistan we can create awareness among jewelers, consumers and traders that will help to overcome the declining image of the Pakistani jewelry and credibility in the International market. It will provide broader base of exports of gold jewellery & will be used as marketing tool eventually developing Pakistan as a reliable market of jewellery.

Furthermore; hallmarking will also benefit in terms of customer’s satisfaction for quality and value. To the jeweler; hallmarking will provide a strong evidence of his commitment to quality and assurance of consistency in purity and quality of gold jewelry.

Addressing a luncheon meeting at Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) on Tuesday, the TDAP’s chief said that Pakistan would cross the barrier of $20 billion exports this year. He said that TDAP has many export-oriented projects in pipeline and after receiving funds, they would be implemented soon. He said that TDAP is planning to take part in as many as 80 international exhibitions abroad out of which 25 exhibitions would be held in China. He said that China has offered free stalls in some of these exhibitions. He said that China would be the focus country for TDAP during 2011 as Chinese market is much lucrative than other countries and Pakistan’s home textile and other items have a big potential of export. He announced that Board of Directors of TDAP would soon be reconstituted and prominent personalities would be taken into this board this time. He said that it was being considered to split the Expo Pakistan exhibition into 5 to 7 sectoral exhibitions this year and proposals are being invited from trade bodies in this regard. He said that TDAP is planning to carry out assistance and funding plan to non-traditional items’ manufacturers with the financial assistance of USAID. While replying to a query by former Chairman KATI, Mian Zahid Husain about export of lubricants and other petroleum products, he said that it was brilliant idea and he should submit proposals in this regard so that lubricants could also be included in export commodities.

ان دنوں عسکری بینک کی جانب سے پیشگی منافع اکاؤنٹ کے نام سے ایک اسکیم متعارف کرائی گئی ہے جس کی خوب تشہیر بھی کی جارہی ہے اور بدترین سیلاب سے متاثرہ ملک کے عوام کو یہ ترغیب دی جارہی ہے کہ اگر لاکھ روپے جمع کرائیں گے تو 12ہزار روپے کا پیشگی منافع ملے گا اور ہر لاکھ روپے پر 12 ہزار روپے منافع پیشگی دیا جائے گا ۔ اس کے ساتھ ساتھ فری ویزا ڈیبٹ کارڈ جاری کیا جائے گا 5 لاکھ روپے تک کی حادثاتی لائف انشورنش کوریج دی جائے گی چیکنگ اکاؤنٹ میں کم از کم بیلنس رقم رکھنے کا کوئی تقاضا نہیں ہوگا۔ مہینے میں 2 فری پے آرڈر اور زیادہ سے زیادہ انویسٹمنٹ کی کوئی حد نہیں ہوگی ۔
اس اسکیم کو INVEST TODAY, PROFIT RIGHT AWAY کا سلوگن دیا گیا ہے۔ مذہبی حلقوں میں اس حوالے سے بحث شروع ہوگئی ہے کہ کیا اسلام اس بات کی اجازت دیتا ہے کہ کسی کے پاس کچھ رقم رکھوائی جائے اور پیشگی منافع وصول کرلیا جائے۔ اس بات کی کیا ضمانت ہے کہ وہ رقم جس کام یا کاروبار میں لگائی جائے گی وہاں 100فیصد منافع ہی ملے گا اور وہ بھی طے شدہ تناسب سے ؟
اس اہم ترین سوال کی وجہ سے بہت سے لوگوں نے عسکری بینک کی اس اسکیم کو مسترد کردیا ہے بلکہ اپنے دوست احباب کو بھی عسکری بینک کی مذکورہ پیشگی منافع اسکیم میں انویسٹمنٹ کرنے سے منع کررہے ہیں۔ اس صورتحال کو دیکھتے ہوئے عسکری بینک کے اعلی حکام اور متعلقہ افسران کو چاہئیے کہ وہ شرعی لحاظ سے اٹھائے جانے والے سوالات کا تسلی بخش جواب دیں اور مذکورہ اسکیم کو مسترد کرنے اور محالفت کرنے والوں کو مطمئن کریں۔
بصورت دیگر عسکری بینک کی پیشگی منافع اسکیم اس بینک کی ساکھ اور شہرت میں اضافہ کرنے کی بجائے اس کو ناقابل تلافی نقصان پہنچا سکتی ہے۔

کراچی(اسٹاف رپورٹر) یہ اعلان انہوں نے منگل کو سائٹ لمیٹڈ کے افسران و ملازمین کے ہنگامی اجلاس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کیا۔ انہوں نے سائٹ لمیٹڈ کے منیجنگ ڈائریکٹر عبدالرشید سولنگی کو سائٹ لمیٹڈ کا لیگل سیکشن فوری طور پر ختم کرنے کی ہدایت کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ آئندہ قانونی امور کیلئے کسی بھی نجی قانونی فرم کی خدمات حاصل کی جائیں کیونکہ سائٹ لمیٹڈ کے زیر التواء مقدمات پر ایک بڑی رقم خرچ ہونے کے باوجود سائٹ کا لیگل سیکشن کوئی بھی مقدمہ جیتنے سے قاصر رہا ہے، ایم ڈی سائٹ لیگل سیکشن ختم کرنے کے حوالے سے امور کا جائزہ لیں۔ انہوں نے سائٹ لمیٹڈ کے تمام شعبہ جات کمپیوٹرائزڈ نہ ہونے پر بھی سخت ناراضی کا اظہار کیااور کہا کہ سائٹ کا ایک وفد فوری طورپر صوبائی وزیر انفارمیشن ٹیکنالوجی رضا ہارون سے مل کر اس معاملے میں وزارت کی معاونت حاصل کرے۔ صوبائی وزیر نے سائٹ لمیٹڈ کے طبی عملے ،اکاؤنٹس اور آڈٹ کے عملے کی کارکردگی کو بے حد سراہا اور افسران وملازمین کو ایمانداری اور تندہی سے کام کرنے کی تلقین کی۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ سائٹ لمیٹڈ کی مطلوبہ رقم میں سے نیشنل ایکویٹی کی جانب سے 5کروڑ روپے اد ا کئے جاچکے ہیں جبکہ باقی ماندہ رقم کے حصول کیلئے کوششیں جاری ہیں جو جلد واپس مل جائیگی تمام رقم ملازمین کی فلاح و بہبود پر خرچ ہوگی۔ رؤف صدیقی کا کہنا تھا کہ سندھ بھر میں صنعتی انفراسٹرکچر کی بہتری کیلئے وفاقی حکومت سے دو ارب روپے کے ترقیاتی فنڈ کی منظوری دی جاچکی ہے جس کے حصول کیلئے کوششیں جاری ہیں اور ہمیں پوری امید ہے کہ یہ رقم سائٹ کو فراہم کردی جائیگی۔ دریں اثناء صوبائی وزیر رؤف صدیقی نے بتایا کہ سائٹ لمیٹڈ کی ڈسپنسری کی عمارت کی تعمیر میں میزان بینک کا تعاون حاصل ہے اور ملازمین کو طبی سہولتوں کی فراہمی میں بھی میزان بینک کا بڑا کردار ہے جس کے لئے ہم ان کے شکر گزار ہیں۔ بعدازاں صوبائی وزیر نے زیر تعمیر ڈسپنری کی نئی عمارت کا معائنہ بھی کیا۔ اس موقع پر ایم ڈی سائٹ عبدالرشید سولنگی، ڈی ایم ڈی سائٹ احمد نواز جاگیرانی، چیف انجنئیر سائٹ عبدالوحید شیخ، ڈائریکٹر کوآرڈی نیشن غلام فاروق، ڈی ایم ڈی ٹیکنیکل شمس الدین سہتو اوردیگر افسران بھی موجود تھے۔

Begum Salma Ahmed, Chairperson BSA Inc. / Founder President & C.E.O Women Chambers of Commerce & Industry arranged a gathering of women Entrepreneurs in honor of Elizabeth O' Colton, Acting US Consul General at Women Chambers Karachi. Two US Consulate Officers Susan, Officer Cultural Affairs and Andrea DeArment visited the chambers on behalf of Acting US Consul General.
Begum Salma Ahmed , leading women entrepreneur briefed the guests about the efforts of women entrepreneurs and emphasized to facilitate Women Entrepreneurs of Pakistan to visit US market and exhibit their products.

Hinopak will ship 25 buses costing Rs160m this month to Emirates Transport for school and staff segments

KARACHI: Hinopak is planning to export buses and trucks to the Middle East and Africa to help reduce the country’s trade deficit, said the company’s CEO, Hideya Lijima. The company has a 65 per cent share in truck and bus manufacturing in Pakistan.
Hinopak is planning to take annual exports to 400 buses, earning $30 million per year for the country, said Deputy General Manager Hinopak, Ahmed Rauf. He added that production of 25 buses for export cost Rs160 million. They were speaking at a ceremony organised to celebrate the first batch of exports on Tuesday.

Hinopak, established in 1986, will ship 25 buses this month to Emirates Transport for school and staff segments.
Lijima mentioned that the buses were designed taking the UAE and its geography, climate and economy into consideration. “Export of buses and trucks from Pakistan to the Middle East and Africa will help reduce trade imbalance,” he said.
“The company is striving to continuously tap prospective markets of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, Bahrain, UAE, Jordan, Panama, Mozambique and Costa Rica,” said the company’s Director Sales and Marketing, Muhammad Irfan Sheikh. “Japanese experts inspect the buses before they are exported. Maintaining standards of quality is always our first priority,” Sheikh added.
Sheikh said that export of vehicles will have a good impact on Pakistan’s automobile industry. Besides, the increase in the company’s production capacity will help improve local worker expertise and experience.
“Hinopak Motors has the government’s full support in its endeavour to increase the export capacity,” said Chief Executive of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Mohibullah Shah.
“I would like to see exports from present 25 units to 25,000 units in coming years,” he added. “It is an honour for Pakistan and Hinopak to export high performance buses to the competitive market of Middle East,” he added .
Shah reminded everyone that Pakistan has achieved the highest-ever exports in financial year 2009-10, despite difficult financial conditions in and around the world. He added that Hinopak’s achievement was commendable.

 

KCCI stressed the need of FTA with ASEAN

President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad stressed the need of chalking out FTA agreement with ASEAN for harnessing trade potential. ASEAN is a rising trade hub of the region and the trade relationship holds prominent status.Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad in a meeting with Thai Ambassador, Marut Jipatima said that Thailand enjoys a prominent share in ASEAN countries and true relationship holds a prominent status. At present the trade between both countries stood at 745 million USD, while the trade imbalance is gradually decreasing but there is enough opportunity exist that needs to be realized. The major exports to Thailand are Seafood, Cotton Yarn, Textile fabric and finished products, Machinery & Parts, Vegetables that have reported substantial increase in past. There is possibility of joint ventures in multiple areas especially Rice and other agriculture commodities, Halaal foods, Dairy Industry, Tourism and Medicine.
President identified Rice for which both Pakistan and Thailand are leading producers, joint ventures in technology or marketing efforts could be done. Thai expertise would be helpful in enhancing tourism, Abdul Majid identified domestic tourist resort Gorkha Hills in Sindh is another area of interest apart from northern area and hills. KCCI stressed on organizing single country exhibitions and frequent exchange of trade delegations.
Thai Ambassador Marut Jipatima reciprocated gratitude and compliment to KCCI. The ambassador attended the meeting with Thai trade delegation and identified preferred areas of interest which includes Pharmaceutical industry, Palm Oil and Cassava, Livestock and dairies, Gem stone and Jewelry, Infra-structural development, construction of hotels and restaurants, health facilities, commercial beauty, Ventilation or AC industry and Footwear. Ambassador welcomed KCCI to attend exhibitions and participate in trade promotions and informed about the visit of a delegation would for Halaal Food. He also suggested participating in Gems and Jewelry Exhibition held in September at Bangkok , Thailand which is one the biggest trade show for this category in Asia . While taking about FTA with Pakistan , Marut Jipatima revealed that a joint trade committee is to be formed by Thailand and Ministry of Commerce, Pakistan which would address the pending FTA and devise the list of preferred items.
Ambassador suggested KCCI that this is the right time to lay solid foundation, as ASEAN offers huge investment opportunities. At the end Thai delegation loudly appraised Karachi and the avenues of business opportunities it offers. The delegation said that Karachi is a safe city, there is no suicide bombing or target killings and investors should come forward and map strategy for cooperation.
